By George! Announcing our patron saint’s day menu.

Whether or not you believe that St George really slew a dragon with his lance, or think it’s odd that a (probably) Greek soldier in the Roman army is somehow patron saint of England, we’ll still be marking the Feast of St George with a very special menu that flies the flag for England’s finest produce.
At lunch and dinner on St George’s Day – Wednesday 23rd April – guests at aqua shard will be able to choose from a three-course menu which includes Stilton & endive soup with whelks, clams, parsley and crispy St George mushrooms for starter and for dessert, Gooseberry & rhubarb fool with saffron-infused gooseberry compôte.
We’re especially excited about the main course, as our chef Anthony Garlando will be serving his very special take on arguably England’s national dish – fish & chips. Aqua shard fish & chips will feature John Dory and Cornish crab in beer batter parcels, with thick potato ‘chips’, caper, pickle and lemon salad and green pea ice-cream, Anthony’s whimsical answer to mushy peas.
The crab is from The Real Cornish Crab Co., who give every delivery a QR code which when scanned gives the date the crab was caught, the name of the boat and even the name of the fisherman.
Priced individually at £7, £22 and £7.50 for the starter, main course and dessert respectively, all three courses can be enjoyed for just £34. And even if you don’t believe in celebrating St George, you might still want to enjoy the menu in recognition of another great Englishman, William Shakespeare, who both was born and died on 23rd April!
Do you believe St George slew the dragon, or do you think it’s all a myth? Are you happy he’s England’s patron saint, or would you nominate someone more suitable? Tell us in the Comments!
