Blythburgh baps in Bermondsey
Posted on September 26, 2014 by admin
Last Saturday we waved goodbye – for this year! – to the festival season with a one day pop-up at the wonderful Bermondsey Street Festival. After a fun first time in 2013, we were naturally keen to return and this year took along a bigger team – and a barbecue!
Wanting to serve a dish that was in keeping with the cuisine served in aqua shard but suited to eating easily outdoors, our executive head chef Anthony Garlando came up with Blythburgh pork belly baps with caramelised onions and ‘aqua shard’ coleslaw, using the same fully free-range pork as appears on the a la carte menu.
Visitors to the Festival loved the baps – toasted brioche buns filled with generous slices of the chargrilled pork belly,a rich caramelised onion relish and a fresh, finely-shredded, herb-laced coleslaw. They were also keen to stop and find out more about the restaurant – those that weren’t already regular guests, as many local residents are.
We loved meeting so many of our neighbours – Bermondsey Street is just metres from The Shard and home to our head office – and also enjoyed sampling some of the delicious dishes and drinks on offer from other local restaurants, pubs and bars.
If you’ve yet to discover Bermondsey Street Festival, do be sure to look out for it next year – but we’d love you to visit us and our vibrant neighbourhood before then, too!
